The Rainsville Church members, Rainsville, Ala., celebrated paying off their church property on Sabbath, November 19, 2016, with a mortgage-burning ceremony. Dave Livermore, president of Gulf States Conference, and Jaime Pombo, current pastor of Rainsville Church, led out in the service. Dan Thompson, former pastor of Rainsville, was in attendance as well. Conference treasurer Brian Danese preached a powerful message about Jesus paying the ultimate price for salvation.
In 2005, the church members decided that it was time to move to a new location, and under the leadership of Kurt Threlkeld, pastor, plans were made. By 2006, with Thompson assuming the senior pastor position, the building project was finished. With the support and assistance of members Ken and Donna Stroud, Adrian and Judy Aponte, and Tom and Arlene McFarland, the entire project was seen to fruition. Through God’s providence, the church property was paid off in September of 2016.
