We, the Spartanburg Spanish Pathfinder Club, had the highest hopes and greatest excitement to travel to the 2019 Oshkosh International Camporee. However, these hopes were devastated on June 27, 2019, as we received a notification from our church’s security system that our trailer was stolen. The trailer contained all of our camping supplies, including tents, chairs, kitchen utensils, and more. It was difficult to break the news to our Pathfinders, and as our director did, a grave face came upon our club as the realization of not being able to attend the camporee overwhelmed everyone. Our club immediately kneeled to pray emotionally to God, asking Him to help provide for us, as we had faith that we would as long as we stayed strong.
A week after the robbery, our director received a phone call from the local Spartanburg police. “It was a clear response from God,” said Veronica Martinez, director of the club. The trailer was found, but empty on the inside. Our hope was restored, and suddenly attending the Oshkosh Camporee was a real possibility again. That same day, the Spartanburg Pathfinder Club generously donated enough funds for us to buy brand new camping supplies, so that our dream of attending the Camporee could be made a reality once again. Although our trailer was slightly dirty and beaten, our faith and happiness were strong, coming directly from the Lord to shine brighter than any newly washed car.
