The Chance of Your Lifetime

By Amy Cote

Have you ever met someone and wondered if there is anything at all you have in common with them? I am the kind of person who looks for similarities when I am making friends. This was my third opportunity to come to Oshkosh, but the first time I have really been old enough to think about how incredible the very concept really is. As I walked down crowded streets, I couldn’t stop thinking about the fact that every single one of the people I see here has something in common with me-we are all Pathfinders! Wherever I went, I was able to share this incredible experience with people who have something in common with me. That just blew my mind.

My favorite part of Oshkosh has always been the evening meetings, the plays in particular. There is something about seeing your favorite Bible stories being brought to life that gives them a whole new meaning. The actors become your role models, and you cheer as Goliath is brought to the ground or David is anointed to be the next king of Israel. You sympathize with David as his brothers ruthlessly tease him about smelling like sheep and simply being different. My club even managed to get front row seats one night, and it was the most incredible thing I have ever done at Oshkosh. It puts you on a whole new level with the actors and actresses.

I think that my experiences at Oshkosh have been some of the best memories my life. Everyone is friendly, willing to talk to you, and eager to trade pins with you. If you ever get the opportunity, come to Oshkosh. You will never regret it.
