Bluegrass Connection Reflects on History, Growth
The history of Bluegrass Connections, Ky., Church (BCC) can be framed by the history of God’s mission on Earth. In Genesis 12, God said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people, and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” For some of the members of the Lexington, Ky., Church, the call to plant a new church felt like “leaving their people and their father’s house.”
The roots of BCC go back to a visioning session in 2016 led by Lexington’s pastor at that time, Pavel Goia. The leaders of the church met to pray and seek God’s guidance. God gave the group several ideas, one of them being to plant a new church.
After some training from the North American Division Evangelism Institute mentors, a group of members began meeting in a small group to continue to work on and pray for the church plant goal. In September 2017, the Lexington board voted to officially launch the church plant. Following a recommended timeline for beginning new worship services, the first Sabbath service was held in September 2018. Services were held monthly then biweekly. Finally, in January 2019, weekly services began.
From its beginning, BCC has sought to follow God where He leads. Because of Jesus, BCC meets in vibrant participatory worship. Because of Jesus, BCC is engaged in service in its community. Because of Jesus, BCC gathers in fellowship to seek holiness, spiritual friendship, and everyday mission. And because of Jesus, if it needs to be done and if Jesus is in it, BCC wants to be part of it. As a community, BCC has nothing to be proud of except for what Jesus has done and is doing in its midst.
On October 15, 2022, the BCC Church plant celebrated its status change from company to church status.
