Lake Worth Spanish Church in Lake Worth, Fla., likes to give back to the community. Every year in December, the church chooses a day to celebrate the Christmas season by holding a Christmas festival and inviting the community.
The schedule of activities for the day includes something for the entire family to enjoy:
- Gifts for the younger children include toys in all sizes and shapes. Gifts are age appropriate for those older.
- Face Painting — Visitors get to choose their favorite character or animal, and the teenagers of the congregation use their artistic skills in creating this painting on the faces of their guests. At first the guests may be a little apprehensive, but love seeing the finished product.
- Snacks — If adults cannot find an activity to get involved in, there are always the snack tables with snacks of all kinds, including some homemade holiday season goodies.
More than 50 families from the community came with their children last year. Many had a first contact with the church as they saw all the activities for them in a friendly and safe environment. Testimonies were heard from single mothers without a gift for their children, and how God answered their prayer through this event for their families.
Two families decided to register their children in the Adventurer’s Club. One family is studying the Bible with one of the members. “Our main goal is for the community to know that we are here for them and that Jesus is the best Christmas gift we could ever have,” said Rolando Morgado, Lake Worth pastor.
This celebration has become a part of the Lake Worth calendar each year to celebrate with the community. They are preparing for this year’s celebration, and want to share this successful witnessing idea as other churches lay plans for this holiday and holiday seasons to come.
