Oakwood University is excited about its United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Career Pathways Initiative (CPI) entitled “CP-GEM” — Career Pathways for Gainful Employment of Minorities. This program was launched with the class of 2021, and is designed to equip Oakwood students with the skills, knowledge, preparation, and tools needed for meaningful employment upon graduation.
As part of this initiative, the GEMConnect Mobile Application was launched during New Student Orientation. New and transfer students were introduced to the app which allows students to evaluate their career aptitude, build a digital career portfolio, discover professional certifications, communicate with a career advisor, discover internships and job opportunities, and get career advice from alumni. Oakwood is looking for alumni who are interested in serving as mentors, and are willing to connect to current students through the use of the app. Please contact Richard Hodnett at rhodnett@oakwood.edu to participate.
