The Highland Church in Portland, Tenn., is actively involved in serving their community. On Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, the men’s ministries sponsored a golf tournament. More than $1,500 was raised that benefited the Highland Community Services (HCS).
Some of the projects supported by HCS help a Portland food program, “Pay it Forward,” giving hundreds of free food boxes to Portland residents. Highland Community Services also gives 50 to 60 food baskets out during Thanksgiving, and gifts for needy children during Christmas. The thrift store is open two days a week to serve the Portland area.
“Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good,” Ministry of Healing, p. 143.
