The Kentucky-Tennessee Conference administration is pleased to announce that, after a long search and extensive prayer, the Executive Committee extended an invitation of employment to Anton Kapusi to be the new church growth director, effective September 1, 2023.
Kapusi was born in Yugoslavia, now known as Serbia. He received his B.A. in religion from the Adriatic Union College in Croatia in 1990. It was at seminary that he met his wife, Erika, and the couple got married on August 19, 1990.
Kapusi holds an M.A. in pastoral ministry from Newbold College in the UK. He completed a master of divinity and a doctor of ministry with a concentration in church growth and church multiplication from Andrews University. Kapusi also speaks multiple languages, including English, Hungarian, German, Croatian, Serbian, and other Slavic dialects.
“My biggest passion is to empower our leaders,” said Kapusi. “I’d like to help our churches and pastors know themselves better. Once you do that, you can start with the work of revitalization.”
Kapusi’s ministry began amidst the turmoil of Yugoslavia’s civil war, when he served as a pastor and a regional director for ADRA. His global ministry continued when he was called to minister in Ireland from 2003 to 2007, and subsequently to New York from 2007 to 2019. During his tenure in the Greater New York Conference, he also took on the role of stewardship director for two years.
Most recently, Kapusi had been pastoring in the Rocky Mountain Conference in Colorado, contributing to the spiritual growth of the community. Throughout his ministry, Kapusi has planted seven churches — five of them in Europe and two in New York. He says his greatest passion is bringing others to know Christ.
“My favorite thing in ministry is seeing the people around me change their lives because they have found Jesus,” said Kapusi. “There is no better news. In this world, nobody can give better hope than Jesus.”
The Kentucky-Tennessee Conference family is happy to welcome Anton and Erika Kapusi.
