There was no Seventh-day Adventist presence in the Pleasant View area of Cheatham County in 2008, until a small group came together forming the North Cheatham Mission in Jolton, Tenn.
With much prayer, in August of 2015, God provided a beautiful church on five acres located in the city of Chapmansboro, Tenn. The congregation relocated and changed the name to New Hope Church, and today the beautiful building is the spot where the true mission of Jesus happens — winning souls for the kingdom of God.
As a young congregation, dedicated Christians from other faiths joined the fellowship, and offered significant contributions financially and service support. It was therefore with joy and thanksgiving on March 18, 2017, that Tonia Hampton and her son, Jonathan Hampton, long-term attendees, made a public declaration of their faith in Jesus Christ by going into the cold waters of the Cumberland River to be baptized. More than 50 guests witnessed Ronnie Forté, pastor of the South Nashville, Tenn., Church, baptize the Hamptons.
Tonia Hampton, a dedicated Christian and prayer warrior, offers faithful support to this small congregation as does Jonathan, who has been a junior deacon since the age of 12. Their baptism was an answer to prayer, and also a witness of how God is working to guide this small congregation in fulfilling the mission the Lord has ordained.
