During Southeastern Conference’s 36th annual Camp Meeting, campers convened this past June in Hawthorne, Fla. Conference officials introduced Christopher C. Thompson, D.Min., as the new communication and technology director. Thompson brings a wealth of experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in theology and a master’s degree in pastoral studies and church development from Oakwood University, and a doctor of ministry degree from United Theological Seminary. Thompson has pastored and taught in South Carolina, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. He also served as communication chair for the pastoral evangelism and leadership council. Thompson, an avid reader, has published three books; written numerous articles for various publications; and written and produced a documentary, Good Grief, to help people cope with traumatic experiences.
Camp Meeting afforded Thompson an ideal opportunity to engage with fellow staff and constituents he will serve. He unassumingly mixed and mingled among the masses with a winsome smile and Canon camera in tow. He quickly made himself at home with Southeastern’s communication team, carefully observing the behind-the-scenes synergy that culminates each year in the live-streaming of camp events and worship services.
Driven by faith and his passion to inspire others to fulfill their purpose in Christ, Thompson desires to personally interface with church communication directors, collaboratively moving ministry to the next level.
Thompson finds his greatest support in his best friend and wife of 12 years, Tracy. They have one son, Christopher Charles Thompson II.
